2012 ha!

I am almost afraid to write anything on the 2012 phenominon.  The subject brings so many people out of the woodwork that it is a risk to put anything out there.  Let me begin with a fact about myself… I am by training and schooling in the western mode a historian.  This means that I love to study all sorts of arcane subjects about the past.  Helps me recapitulate Mother Culture too… but that’s already been said.

As a man of awareness on a path of freedom, I always question when the general public gets fired up about apocalyptic issues.   We remember the future because we remember the past, which in turn causes us so much trouble and insanity.  Is this projection real or just paranoid fear?  Now it is absolutely true that the Maya, and several other cultures, watched the stars, counted time in long periods and generally projected their fear of the future on the patterns of the stars.  Seeking meaning from all sorts of places.  It is connected to the awareness of the rotation of the earth (day), moon (month), seasons (sun year), moon cycles (decades), venus cycles – (dawn star in 8 year patterns), and weather (sun spots – 11 years).   These easily tracked patterns get extended outward into the stars in greater and greater repetitious patterns like the wandering stars – planets and the constelations.

Reincarnate this…..

Posted in The infinite with tags , , on 12/04/2009 by aruntabear

Recently I have had increasing conversations with people about reincarnation.  As a person of knowledge on a path of freedom, this seems like a great thing to explore and examine and it is.  But this is one of those areas where proof is sketchy and the facts are based on personal experience.  On top of that, there is a high level of attachment to these stories as one delves into these depths.  Attachment is the deathnote for a warrior of awareness.

Passion for change

Posted in About the Path, Along the Road with tags , , , , on 11/21/2009 by aruntabear

Yesterday I wrote with some energy and passion how I felt about religion and its dying energies.  Let me say with clarity, being against religion does not mean being against a belief in a higher power.  As noted in this blog, one can read my belief in the spirit… even a definition.  See below.

Also, it is critical that each individual come to understand the substructures of their own religio-social context for themselves.  I would not want religion at this time to fade away if I had not been a full participating member in its constructs.  For years I worked within the structure in hopes of real change, real vision.  What became evident in the experience was summed up by a friend of mine when we were discussing corporations.  “In the face of potential destuction or fear of real change, organizations (corporations) will lie.”  Or as they note in Chinese history, the structure of empire would expand until its limits requred destruction from within to re-envision a new world, new way.  Change is constant.   This is even more evident than anything if you study the history of religion.  The lies lead to actions which are often cataclysmic in their destuction of the very ones who are faithful.  The middle ages, rennaissance, reformation and much of the history of the western church is riddled with this story.

Religion, Reform or Destroy

Posted in About the Path, Along the Road with tags , , on 11/20/2009 by aruntabear

As a result of a most interesting conversation that I had this morning, I got to thinking about religion for the day.  It was a generous sharing between me and my co-worker.  Neither of us participate in any traditional religion any more.  Both of us left in search of the higher ground, the deeper felt compassion and a more accurate story to live by.  My general point was that it seems religion just needs to be destroyed, hers was that there is truth in every religion, or at least a kernal of truth which founded the religion and we should be careful who we state such a statement as “destroy” religion. Reform the way so we return to the truth.

Sweat Lodge??? Who owns what…

Posted in About the Path with tags , on 11/09/2009 by aruntabear

The tragedy in Sedona surrounding sweat lodge has me saddened in the extreme.  It saddens me not just for the foolishness around the ceremony, nor the blame game which will work itself out in the halls of justice.  It saddens me that this sacred ceremony has been abused and discussed with very little awareness and understanding of what it really is and stands for those of us who practice it.

Let me be clear as well… you will not learn from an article on any website about lodge.  This requires commitment, a teacher/elder, and the safe guidance of experience.  But my reflections follow here……

Numbers………..

Number art1

Numbers, numbers, 1,2,23, 9,18 etc.  These things facinate me to death.  The picture above is a peice of art.  The numbers change randomly.  The neon glows off the side of a building and attracts attention.  What does it all mean?  Well really, nothing.  Which is strange.  Numbers are literally our first abstraction.  By abstraction, I mean that we learn to count 1,2,3 to identify the quantity of something not the thing itself in and of itself.  They are first steps in the brain to developing an inner world as disconnected from the world we see.

Words are normally direct representations of the thing itself.  When we learn to say mother or father we mean and have a direct experience of mother and father, ball, dog (or it’s name like fluffy)… yet when a child learns 4, it means something that is abstracted.  It does not mean the thing itself, but the number of things which can be around or are needed.  We don’t go around experiencing 4 directly.  Numbers are one step removed from the world as we know it.

the indescribeable force

Raven-wind small

It is incredible human hubris to assume that there is nothing beyond the self.  It is also incredible self importance to view it as an extension of the self in being a god or goddesses…  We are constantly percieving the greater force as a human extension of our selves.  We do not want to break the mirror of self reflection, we would rather just make ourselves into a bigger version which can then carry out our self absorbed demands.

of late… the Masters

baffling_crop_circles_equal_pi_2

Lately I have been sitting with information which has been streaming into my awareness.  The information has been as broad as the crop circle phenominon to the work of Terrance McKenna.  All culminated this weekend in an intense meditation that I did sitting next to a stream in an alpine meadow.  While this stream wandered through the area, I felt connected to an ancient spirit which the European Irish, called Tuatha de Danna… or River Spirit.  A very feminine presence with a beautiful dress made of the ripples one finds on the water as it caresses the landscape.  The depth to which my spirit wandered was guided by the fire which balanced Tuatha.  There in the flames were the colors of the raibow as the wood burnt.  Added to this was a deep sorrow about the loss of the trees to the beetles.

The feeling openned up after chanting quiet ecstatically a series of tonations which I have no idea what they meant.  The rattle and fire drove my spirit to wander across time in my imagination.  The time shifting was similar to the ideas of Time Wave Zero of Terrance Mckenna.  He states that we are on a collision with time and the Mayan calendar specifically points to that time on Dec 21st 2012.  Now in his original thinking, it was not the Mayan, but the I Ching and the various other traditions around time which forced him to see that we are collapsing our difusion of technology down to zero.  The first wave was agriculture, then bronze, then iron etc up to and including scientific revolution and down to the revolutions of computers and memory and though he did not live to see it, i-phones and personal devices. As we approach this end point, he noted that the periodicity of diffusion becomes smaler and smaller til it approaches zero (and infintity if one recalls one’s math).  We are rapidly approaching a point where we will create something that to McKenna would destabilize time itself.

Multiplicity of Awareness

I had the most intreaguing conversation with a young man recently.  He spent volumes of energy in a few minutes of talking filling the space between us with apologies and defending some perceived insult that I may have with him over his past.  We were discussing awareness, ADD and the art of creation.  His own fears around this came down to definitions that a therapist had given him for some condition he experienced.

First, I don’t think anyone needs to apologize for ones awarenesses or experiences of reality.  The concept of normal and the dominance of the psychological community in developing some construct of what “normal” is creates a frightening world to me.  This dominion of awareness refines our awareness down to a fraction of the potential that could, in the long run, save us as humans.

With the Wind in…..

st1100-90

I spoke to a friend recently and he noted that there seems to be a growing sense of the end of things.  This was all the way from a cultural experience we are all sharing to an impending sense of his own death.  While this was not an emotion of consistent terror that awakes one in the middle of the night sweating with worry, it was really a calm and enjoyable – an acceptable state of being.  He wondered if there was something wrong.

No….
